A 2-year-old boy has died of injuries suffered in a collision with an Ocean City Tram on Tuesday night. Here’s what we know so far.
The Ocean City Police Department is investigating the fatal pedestrian collision involving an Ocean City Tram that occurred on Aug. 20, 2024, at about 8:14 p.m. on the Boardwalk near Dorchester Street.
The pedestrian, a 2-year-old male, was crossing the Boardwalk tram pad near Dorchester Street when he was struck by a southbound tram, according to police. Ocean City EMS personnel pronounced the child dead on the scene. Both Tram conductors remained on the scene.
The Ocean City Traffic Safety Unit is currently investigating the collision, and is asking any individuals with information regarding this incident to contact PFC Panitch at bpanitch@oceancitymd.gov. The name of the pedestrian is not being released at this time, pending notification of next of kin.
