The off-duty police officer stabbed by a suspect in a road rage incident on Saturday has been released from the hospital, Atlanta Police Department tell Channel 2 Action News.
On Saturday, the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office says at approximately 6 p.m. on Saturday, a Dodge Charger hit a Chevy Silverado on Interstate 20 Eastbound near Panola Road in DeKalb County, then left the scene.
Deputies say an off-duty police officer from the metro Atlanta area, then followed the Dodge into Rockdale County near Salem Road to get the license plate information.

It was then when the driver of the Dodge Charger, identified as Justin Perry Hurst pulled into a parking lot, along with the APD officer where they argued,
The argument escalated into Hurst stabbing the officer multiple times in the road rage incident.
The officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was alert, conscious and breathing.
APD released the following statement on Sunday:
“While the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office is the lead in this investigation, the Atlanta Police Department stands in solidarity with them to ensure that the suspect is apprehended. We are asking anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts to please contact CrimeStoppers or the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office.”

APD also said they are “happy to announce that the off-duty officer was released from Grady Memorial Hospital. We are wishing him a speedy and full recovery.”
