In Memory of Madeline Hunter

Historical romance author Madeline Hunter passed away earlier this week from cancer.

Her publisher, Kensington, made an official announcement on their Instagram.

Readers and authors are sharing their favorite Hunter historicals across social media.

A screenshot from Manda Collins' Threads account. Her thread says I just saw on Facebook that one of my of favorite historical romance authors of all time has died. I had the privilege of of meeting Madeline Hunter in her signing line at RWA years before I'd even written a book. Y'all I went full fan girl on the poor woman. Stammered, babbled. Got my signed book then ran away.

A screenshot from author Manda Collins Threads account. It says My favorite of her books is THE CHARMER. With a hero who's a fixer for the crown, a heroine who's a Duchess in her own right, and a parade of emotional support animals that includes a spider monkey and an ocelot, it's delicious. And, just like all of her books there's a mystery. Years after that disastrous first meeting I was lucky enough to receive a cover quote from the writer who showed me how to combine my two favorite genres in one. Thank you for everything, Ms. Hunter. You'll be missed.

Our condolences go to her family and her friends, everyone else who had the fortune to know Hunter, and to those who have been affected by her writing. When an author passes, readers often reflect on what their work has meant to them. It’s a reminder how books attract a community of passionate people.

Is there a favorite Madeline Hunter book on your bookshelf? Do you have any fond memories of meeting her at events and conferences?
