A man and two women face assault charges and more after a victim was shot Tuesday at the Grovetown Walmart while trying to save his girlfriend.

Jamarion Burton, 21, was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Shamiya Hobbs, 21, and Jazmine McCloud, 20, were charged with aggravated assault and simple battery.

Bond was denied for all three, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

The 17-year-old victim told Columbia County deputies from his Piedmont Hospital bed that he was shot in the groin while trying to rescue his 18-year-old girlfriend, a Walmart employee, from getting further accosted by two other women in the store’s parking lot.

Authorities found the gun used in the shooting and a phone later discovered to belong to the shooter. The victim and his girlfriend identified all three suspects by name.

The owner of the vehicle used by the shooter to flee the scene helped authorities further confirm their identities.

Burton, Hobbs and McCloud were found in Jefferson County and taken to Columbia County’s jail.
