Symposium speakers included: architect and Pratt alumna (B. Arch. ’85) Annabelle Selldorf, recently celebrated for reimagining the Frick Museum; Tim Rodgers, director of the Museum of Arts and Design, whose exhibitions explore cutting-edge artistry; and Stellene Volandes, editor-in-chief of Town & Country, the 178-year-old magazine and the oldest continuously published general interest publication in the U.S., as well as Editorial Director of Elle Decor.
The program was moderated by cosmetics packaging design icon and Pratt Trustee Emeritus Marc Rosen. The discussion captured the forward-thinking spirit of Pratt and its role at the forefront of design innovation.
Shaping Shifting Landscapes
Originally conceived to showcase the breadth of design disciplines studied at Pratt, the symposium highlighted how leaders like Selldorf, Rodgers, and Volandes are navigating and shaping the shifting landscapes of their fields. It provided students and attendees with an invaluable opportunity to learn directly from these trailblazers about design’s transformative power in an ever-evolving world.
Selldorf shared insights into her firm’s work on the expansion and enhancement of the Frick Collection, emphasizing the preservation of its architectural legacy. Rodgers highlighted recent exhibitions at the Museum of Arts and Design celebrating themes of recycling and reuse. Volandes offered an engaging presentation on her work at Town & Country, discussing the magazine’s core values and strategies for ensuring its continued relevance and evolution.
Merit Awards
At the event’s conclusion, Rosen presented merit awards to three students—Sarah Savage, Harshita Sharma, and Danni Zhao—in recognition of their outstanding work.
