Pueblo coroner IDs two people killed Saturday in Prairie Avenue crash

Two people were killed in a car wreck in Pueblo Saturday, the Pueblo County coroner announced Monday on social media.

Raquel Gonzales, 39, and Aaron Brown, 32, both of Pueblo, died from injuries they received in the crash Saturday evening in the 2600 block of S. Prairie Avenue.

Officers were called to the scene of a vehicle crash in the area of Prairie Avenue and Aster Street, police said Monday in a social media post. At the scene, they found a vehicle that had collided with a tree. Its two occupants had to be removed from the vehicle.

Gonzales was pronounced dead on scene and Brown was rushed to a hospital where later he died of his injuries, according to the coroner.

Police say witnesses to the wreck claimed to have seen Gonzales and Brown’s vehicle being chased by a dark-colored truck that eventually struck the car, causing the driver to lose control and strike the tree. Police continue to investigate.
