Renewables’ impacts on ecosystems in China | Science

Renewables deployment is crucial to achieving carbon neutrality in China (1). By 2030, China’s installed capacity of clean energy is estimated to reach 2.57 billion kilowatts, which represents 67.5% of the country’s overall energy capacity (2). However, China’s renewables development may threaten ecosystems and weaken ecosystem services (3). China urgently needs to take integrated and comprehensive actions to prevent renewable energy infrastructure from degrading the local environment.
